USB RFID Reader for UHF EPC Gen2 Tags
Compact Desktop UHF Reader for Tag Reading and Encoding
JIA-17D is a compact USB RFID reader designed for short-range UHF tag reading, writing and desktop tag management.
The reader supports ISO 18000-6C / EPC Gen2 tags and integrates a 2 dBi circular-polarized antenna in a 104 × 68 × 10 mm housing. RF output is software-adjustable, allowing the reading zone to be configured for desktop applications where controlled tag detection is preferred over long-distance scanning.
It connects to a computer through USB and can be used for tag issuing, EPC encoding, verification and registration in RFID software or backend systems.

Desktop UHF Tag Encoding and Registration
JIA-17D is intended for workstation tasks where an operator needs to handle one tag or a controlled group of nearby tags.
A typical workflow can include:
- Read the tag to identify its existing EPC or tag data.
- Write or encode required data during tag issuing or initialization.
- Read the tag again to verify that the expected information was written correctly.
- Register the tag ID in inventory, asset, access or other management software.
The adjustable RF output helps define a smaller desktop reading zone and can reduce unintended reads from nearby UHF tags.
Typical Applications
- UHF Tag Issuing and EPC Encoding
Suitable for preparing UHF labels or hard tags before they are assigned to products, assets or users. - Tag Verification
Read tags after encoding to confirm that the intended EPC or identification data can be detected. - Desktop Tag Registration
Capture UHF tag IDs at a workstation and associate them with records in inventory, asset or management software. - RFID Software Integration
The standard USB virtual keyboard interface can provide a simple data-input method, while a virtual serial-port version can be customized for projects requiring software-level communication.
