UHF RFID Readers

Explore desktop, fixed, and integrated UHF RFID readers for EPC Gen2 tag reading, encoding, and fixed identification systems.

UHF RFID Readers

UHF RFID readers communicate with passive UHF tags for item identification, tag encoding, and automatic data capture over a longer reading range than LF or HF systems.

Our UHF reader range includes desktop, fixed, and integrated models for different reading zones and installation requirements. Models support EPC Gen2 / ISO 18000-6C compatible tags, with UHF frequency options for different deployment regions.

UHF RFID Reader Options

Choose the reader format according to how and where UHF tags need to be read.

HF Desktop RFID Readers

Desktop UHF Reader

For workstation reading, tag testing and EPC encoding.

4 port fixed RFID reader

Fixed UHF Reader

For automatic reading with one or more external antennas.

12dBi fixed RFID reader

Integrated UHF Reader

For fixed reading with the reader and antenna combined in one housing.

What to Check When Selecting a UHF RFID Reader

Choosing a UHF reader depends on more than maximum read distance.

Selection PointWhat to Check
Reader typeDesktop, fixed or integrated
Read zoneClose-range workstation reading or longer-range fixed identification
Antenna setupBuilt-in antenna or external antennas connected to a fixed reader
Frequency regionReader frequency must comply with the country where the system is installed
RFID protocolConfirm compatibility with the UHF tag being used
System interfaceUSB, Ethernet, RS232, RS485 or other interfaces depending on the reader model

UHF RFID systems commonly operate in regional bands such as 865–868 MHz in Europe and 902–928 MHz in the United States. Reader configuration should match the deployment region and the UHF tags used in the system.

Actual read range also depends on reader power, antenna gain, RFID tag design, tag orientation, mounting material, and the surrounding environment.

UHF RFID Reader FAQ

What is a UHF RFID reader?

A UHF RFID reader communicates with UHF RFID tags for longer-range reading and fast identification of multiple tags.

The reader and tag must use compatible frequencies and protocols. Our UHF reader range includes models designed for EPC Gen2 / ISO 18000-6C compatible UHF tags.

A fixed reader normally connects to one or more external antennas, giving more flexibility when designing multiple reading zones.

An integrated reader combines the reader and antenna in one housing, making it simpler to install at a single fixed reading point.

Selected UHF readers support both reading and writing. Available write functions depend on the reader model and the memory structure and access settings of the RFID tag.
