  • Reader type: handheld, desktop, fixed or integrated
  • Read zone: close-range reading, mobile scanning or fixed long-range identification
  • Connection: USB, Ethernet, RS232, RS485, Bluetooth or Wi-Fi, depending on the model
  • Software integration: confirm the communication protocol or SDK when connecting the reader to your own system

Actual read range also depends on the tag, antenna, mounting position, and surrounding environment.

Can one RFID reader read LF, HF and UHF tags?

Not normally. LF, HF, and UHF use different operating frequencies and RFID technologies.
Some multi-frequency readers support more than one frequency, but compatibility must be confirmed from the specifications of the individual reader.

Some models support both reading and writing, while others are designed mainly for identification.
Write capability depends on the reader, tag protocol, chip, and accessible memory area. Check the specifications of the reader and tag before using it for encoding.

Start with the tag frequency, protocol, and chip type. Then check that the reader supports those specifications.
After compatibility is confirmed, select the reader according to the required reading distance, form factor, interface, and software environment.
